How to deal with suicidal ideation?
So what helps in this case is CBT- which is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. So if you approach someone for sessions then you will be helped out with CBT. Slowly CBT will teach you how to gain control of your thoughts and deal with things better. If your self-esteem lowers, that would result in suicidal thoughts and we can slowly work and settle them. Another thing is to take medicines from the psychiatrist so that you don’t get a low feeling and if you are getting these low feelings then it can be settled eventually through these medicines.
How to deal with low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a big issue for us trans people. This is because we are so used to hearing comments about ourselves and who we are. This results in a detrimental view about ourselves, because of how many times it has been told and how it settles in us. And no matter how many times our loved ones tell us that we look beautiful that we look like how we identify we still don’t feel better. When we are alone with a mirror we always focus on our flaws and how we looked then. We demoralise ourselves and see something that we do not like each time. This can lead us to keep having surgeries to “fix” the issue. But the issue is only of our low self-esteem. Dr Trinka Arora tells us when our self-esteem is affected then mental health issues would follow so when we do something like CBT we work on self-esteem. We do this by regulating emotions. And when our self-esteem gets better we can regulate our lives better.
How to deal with anxiety?
For trans people who are dealing with a lot of trauma especially and for others of us who are suffering from debilitating anxiety, we cannot end up doing what we want to very well. Fear of something is the fear that we will do something wrong and we will be helpless. So when you do get the help, the anxiety will seem easier to deal with. We have to find ways by which we can help ourselves. So think about your current problems and think about what their solutions can be. So when these solutions are done then you can be confident about how you can handle things and become more confident.
Fear and relaxation are two opposite things. If you keep trying to keep yourself calm through different methods then your anxiety about things will reduce.
