Menstruation
Menstruation is the monthly shedding of the lining of your uterus (more commonly known as the womb). After you start your testosterone therapy your menstruation stops.
But I am still bleeding
If you are still bleeding then Dr Kalra has a reason for it, “What happens is that when the testosterone dose is low, initially 3 months or 6 months, the periods may come, menstruation may come. After that, most of the time it doesn’t come, it stops. What happens for some people then is that bleeding might occur, there is a delay in the next injection or for some reason they are skipping injections they may have a breakthrough bleed.”
Investigating the reasons
If this is happening to us then don’t worry there are treatments for that. Dr Kalra, “But it’s not about treatment only- the first thing is that sometimes the periods were not coming and all of a sudden they have started bleeding then we should investigate that. We should do an ultrasound to see what is happening, we should investigate what’s happening. So that is why if in between the periods were not coming and all of a sudden they happen again in spite of the hormone therapy being the same, the dose not being reduced then it is better to check and see what is happening.”
Treatment
After the doctors find out the reason for this, they can decide on their own treatment plan. Dr Kalra also talks about this saying, There are treatments available if there are no other reasons and it just happened like that then we have therapies available in the form of medroxyprogesterone or we have injections depo provera and all which can be given to stop the building. Even acolyte can be given in such cases.
