How much do breast implants cost for trans people ?
For getting an implant, you need to plan according to the cost.
Implants
If we talk about implants, Dr Salil Patil informs, then you can get about 1-1.5 Lakhs depending upon which implant you choose. If you take the shaped implants or the round implant, it depends on that and it leads to approximately this number.
Procedure
Implant surgery can be done in a day. So you come in the morning, you do the surgery and by the evening you can go home.
Around 7 days later there is a follow-up where we ask what pressure garments or sports bras you are advised to use and that is all.
Back to work
You can start your routine activities the very next day. So the gap in your productive life is very less.
Fat Grafting
So in fat grafting, we take out fat by liposuction and there will be an injection of fat later into the chest. This too we can do as a daycare procedure. Sometimes people need some time to get comfortable, so one-day admission might be in place.
Cost
So the cost for fat grafting is around the same, from 1.2- 1.7 lakhs. But if you want a bigger size then it would take multiple surgeries so each time you will have to keep paying the same amount.
Incisions
So to do the surgery a few incisions are made on the body.
Dr Salil Patil says, “If I talk about implant incisions then the most common incision that takes place, happens right on the breast. So the size of the incision is about 5-6 cm. And then from the incision, we can put in the implant of whatever size or shape that one wants. The thing that is being noticed from the past 3-4 years, especially from the Trans clients that Doctor has from overseas is that we do not want an incision on the breast region. That becomes a sore point for us. We want it to be hidden. So normal incisions happen on the breast and then the other one is on the nipple area. These are the two most common ones. The other option is that of the axilla, the armpit area. Inside that region, we can also take a cut and make an incision.
Advantage
The axilla method is useful because the cut wouldn’t be visible to anyone, it will be hidden under the normal folds of the skin.
Dr Salil relates- So my client from the Philippines called us and asked specifically for a surgery which has the incisions hidden. So, for that, we used the axilla method. So, we did the breast implant surgery from there and everyone was really happy with that.”
Common methods
So these three locations are the most common and they are not used in saline but in silicone implants. For some implants, some saline implants you can roll them so you can make it into a small tube and insert it. For that, endoscopic surgery can also happen where we put an endoscope from the belly and then make a pocket in your chest and put it there. Not that common but it is still an option. So inframammary, we call it and then the breast incision is the peri-aerolar and the axillary, or armpit is the most common ones.
