What does Dr Richie Gupta recommend for vaginoplasty ?

If a patient needs a vaginoplasty, what is the advice that they should keep in mind? Dr. Richie Gupta tells us more,
Dr Richie’s advice:
Dr. Richie Gupta asks the patient a few questions- what is the depth that you expect- this is extremely important. Because a lot of patients tell us that they want 6 to 8 inches. So for them, a modified penile inversion vaginoplasty will not work. We can forget it and talk about the peritoneal and sigmoid colon. Depth is an important parameter.
The second thing is the growth of hair in that area. There is an area under the anal canal which is 5 to 6 cm big which is called the perineal scrotal flap which we use for penile inversion. If there is a lot of hair then we tell the patient to get laser hair removal which can be completed 6 to 10 times. Otherwise, there will be hair growth inside  the vagina. These are two important things that Dr. Richie Gupta asks before a vaginoplasty.
What happens from when one is admitted till surgery?
Dr Richie Gupta talks about transwomen. So an estimated date of the procedure is given to them where they can understand what all needs to be done. For peritoneal or modified penile inversion surgeries one has to arrive in the morning at around 8am. And they have to fast the entire night so that they are on an empty stomach when they arrive. For modified penile inversion the admission happens for 3 to 4 days. And 4 to 6 days is for the other two. For sigmoid, the admission happens a day before the procedure because sigmoidoscopy needs to be done to see if there is a problem in the sigmoid colon, which can later affect the vaginal cavity. If there is an issue as such then it needs to be treated for a safe procedure.Sigmoidoscopy can happen way before admission too and then the patient can get admitted the day of the surgery. And if they are from Delhi, then they are allowed to leave by the 4th to 6th day.  We start the dilation procedure on the 7th day and the patient has to do it for 15 mins for 3 days for 3 months and then it is lessened. This is needed for everyone.
