Should I take HRT before I get my breast implants ?
A lot of us are dysphoric about our breasts and so the breast implants are on our list of things to do first. But is it advisable to wait for the HRT to help the breast augmentation first?
Should we wait for HRT and its results?
Sr Richie Gupta tells us that in the beginning 18 months of feminizing HRT was necessary and now it has been reduced to 12 months of HRT. That is the duration in which one can get the correct breast size through feminizing hormones.
It is seen that even after 12 months if there isn’t any difference noticeable, you still should continue taking it for a long time.
So if you are still interested, doctors advise that 12 months of hormone therapy will give you an appropriate size. If you are still not happy with their size so you can go for an augmentation. Some patients are dysphoric so they want a breast augmentation much before the 12 months.
Will these surgeries leave scars?
There are many techniques for a breast augmentation by implants. The method most used is the inferior infra membrane incision with which one makes a 5cm big incision under the breast so when the patient takes off their clothes, it is not very visible. Then there is the axillary approach. In this the incision is on the axilla. And lastly, the umbilical approach which has a few drawbacks. The results might not be good in these. And transareolar or periareolar approach is where the implant is inserted. The most common one, though, is the infra membrane which has been done a lot of times and it is also a safe procedure.
