iamcapricious ha I know it's nt possible in India bt in abroad you can, most probably UK from as much as I know. We can go for transition in private there.

krishna yeah i have heard of some liecensed doctors in America treat chidren in teens with cross hormone therapy, i am not sure about UK. I think its not allowed in the UK

iamcapricious It's difficult to find transgender-friendly psychiatrist in India, once I met a doctor in my teens, he said it's a disease and through some therapy he will make me a normal girl which I'm not, so can you suggest some psychiatrist from any state, I'm ready to go and meet??

abby95 psychiatrists in children first (delhi) are really good, they understood everything before I even spoke. They made me feel very positive and counselled very well.

You could get in touch with Dr. Rajiv Sharma (Janakpuri, New Delhi). He is a psychiatrist experienced in sessions with transgenders in India. The sessions here are a little costly (Rs.1000 if I am not wrong), but that's the amount I paid in other places as well). Generally for people under 18, they do not recommend but I guess with your parents consent they would be able to assist you. Another psychiatrist I have in mind, which is much cheaper as it is government one is NIMHANS, Bangalore - Psychiatrist department (I think you just pay a nominal registration amount). That's where I had gotten my recommendation from. But keep in mind that if you don't already have a letter in hand, it takes up to 6 months minimum to get that evaluation. In private clinics, you might get it faster. 6 months is a better option though to ensure you are not going to take an incorrect step.

Now coming to endocrinologist, that's the toughest part. I was given a recommendation of Dr. Arun Kumar, Delhi from the Olmec Clinic, but haven't taken any hormones from him yet. Have had a bad experience with endocrinologist in the past.

Hi, Yashika! Have you personally visited Dr. Rajiv Sharma or you know about him through some recommendation/friends? I am planning to speak to a therapist or a psychiatrist in the near future, but I'm worried for confidentiality as well as judgement from doctors themselves.

In Hyderabad there is a Endocrinologist Dr.Bipin Kumar Sethi, Trans-Friendly Doctor. The fees is only 400 INR.

Hi Megha, I didn't have any bad experience with Dr. Arun in particular. It was from some other endocrinologist in Pune, which made me gain a lot of weight and hypothyroid. I quit hormones to get back to shape. Recently, in order to get SRS from Olmec, had to get a letter from Dr. Arun. I just got a letter from him stating i had been on hormones, but I was actually using some other hormones (which was recommended by someone else), as I couldn't risk changing my medication.

@yashika_1989 & @Megha & @abby95 Delhi is always quite expensive when it comes to medical treatments. I dont think it costs 1000Rs per session with psychiatrists in 2 tier & 3 tier cities.

I am moving to Delhi by July 1st, week. I will start my upsc preparation there. I am planning to check with psychiatrist to assess my issues. I will be staying in south panel nagar. Any suggestions and contacts of doctors and also planning to try some hormones if prescribed as I am yet to come out and don't have proper job. Any reply will be appreciated and I will be thankful
