Hi!
I wanted to start my FTM HRT soon, so wanted to know how much would be the costing ? And any one from Pune who could tell me which psychiatrist I could visit?

Hi I am a transman from Hyderabad I think you could go to the Olmec clinic which is in Delhi they have psychiatrist, endocrinologist and plastic surgeon you could get your transition done there honestly if you want to undergo transition in India then it is the best option and as per the cost I really don't know sorry about that. You can search that clinic on web the doctor has a lot of experience.

Megha Well I m planning to ,why are there any issues with that clinic. I am planning to transition there or else I just wanna go abroad and settle there in India I don't wanna try anywhere else.

1stly about ur cost estimate, do u want the cost of HRT or SRS/ FFS ? I have been in touch with some Trans girls through this forum who are on HRT & are going for surgeries This year, so I can give u some current cost estimates.

krishna I think Olmec clinic is ok , but not the best. Dr Narendra Kaushik is not the most experienced person (in SRS) in india . & I feel olmec is way too expensive given that there are way more experienced SRS / FFS surgeons in the country. I dont see a Value proposition to the Price they charge. & unfortunately I have heard of some negative references about the surgeries done in olmec too, So I wud not suggest olmec as the best option to anyone who comes to me.

I am not from delhi , But through my friends in delhi, I know there are better Surgeons in Delhi. If i name any surgeon here, it may sound like i have been paid by some doctor to write negative references about olmec, so I'd rather refrain from that. All I suggest you is to do some more reserach , try to meet some post op transsexual ppl from olmec & not from olmec tooo & know their experiences. It will help u.

After a year or so on HRT, I'm considering to get my surgeries done from abroad. So I'm currently thinking to start my HRT, it's getting harder day by day to deal with the dysphoria. I'm FTM trans. iamcapricious I followed your link, and discovered that psychiatrists don't approve right away, I'm quite sceptical about Indian doctors' mindset regarding this whole transgender thing, how did you find the right psychiatrist?

abby95 Assuming that u have your psychiatric evaluation done & have a got a green signal from your psychiatrist ?.

A endocrinologist (Endo) will charge you around Rs 300 to 500 per consultation, and at you 1st consultation he will ask you for some blood tests (to assess your kidney & liver functions, Hormone levels & lipid profile ) which can cost you from Rs 900 to 2000 (depending on the lab you choose) & ideally when on HRT, these tests are to be repeated at least once a year.

After the endo is satisfied with your test results , he will give u native hormone blockers & cross hormones, this will cost you around Rs 600 to 800 per month.

First 6 months you may have to visit your endo once a month (since he has to titer/adjust the doses, during this time he may ask you to do blood Hormone level test every month or every 45 days), after that your endo may space the meetings once every 2 months or 3 months. Megha krishna

abby95 You are welcome abby ? I am glad i cud be of some help. Yes, If you find a reasonably affordable psychiatrist it may cost you around 500rs per session & it may take around 6 to 10 sessions in general to get the approval, if you do not have any other underlying psychological conditions.

iamcapricious thank you nandini you have been really very helpful. Ha actually after searching some results today I just felt that I'll start my hrt done here and then I'll go abroad and settle so that's the plan for now

krishna okay, are your parents being supportive towards your decision? I haven't spoken about it to them yet.

krishna hi krishna, according to standard of care, thats quite young for cross hormone therapy. I don't think any doctors will administer cross hormones to u. I think they can legally only give u puberty blockers.

But in any case I think u need to 1st see a trans-friendly psychiatrist. Your psychiatrist has to evaluate u. He may even have to talk to your parents. you have to get the approval from a psychiatrist to start puberty blockers.

Based on that approval, your endo can then start Puberty blockers for u.

Once u hit 18, your psychiatrist can evaluate u & give u approval for cross hormone therapy.

abby95 yes my parents are supportive about my decision and I really thing it is the most important necessity for us that they understand us. I don't think I can manage independently what I want
