fluffymonster Aadhar gender marker can be updated online (or in person) by self-attestation and no longer requires any documentation or TG ID. Source; "You are permitted to update gender once by enrolling at the enrolment centre for update of gender for which no document is required."
a. Is this true?
The provision is true the implementation is limited and also it is mainly in person itself there is no online option yet
fluffymonster b. I already have a passport with my assigned birth sex. Is there any foreseeable issue/conflict with mismatched gender markers between Aadhar and passport?
You need to update aadhar first then you can update voter ID and Pan card with which you can update your education documents then you go for passport so that mismatch conflict is minimal and anyhow you can give your GD GID certificate which will be considered and verified after which they will issue it without any issue
fluffymonster For the TG ID, I understand that the process goes: TG ID certificate (to get recognition as trans) --> revised TG ID with binary gender marker. However on some threads on this forum, I saw conversation about being able to directly change from M to F, for example.
I would love some clarity on this.
If you have a medical intervention certificate you can go for section 7 tg id where you get M/F gender markers if you dont have a medical intervention certificate you will have to go for section 6 where you get T marker only
fluffymonster Still now, I don't think passport gender marker can be updated without GRS, correct?
As long as you have a medical intervnetion certificate from a psychatrisit or psycholgist or endocrinlogist or all or two or one of them you can use that to update gender marker
