mizu Hey, I did read it through. However, I was confounded as to how to get the revised trans ID marked F directly. Moreover, would like to know why u opine the Gazette method as painful.

tara______ Um, whether you get F or T entirely depends on what self-identification you put in the affidavit.

The gazette method has a ton of extra steps, such as publishing a newspaper advertisement or visiting the DM in person. The Transgender ID is much more lightweight by comparison, all you need is a letter from a doctor and an affidavit, and the whole process is online end-to-end.

PS: Since you are in a hurry, you can also apply for both at the same time and you can use whichever one goes through first.

mizu Yeah, both would be better. The agent said today DM signature ain’t needed for gazette method. When asked to confirm w the Gazette team, he said he’s done this for years (post the act in 2019 as well) and that he doesn’t need to ask. Apparently he might know someone from the Gazette & might have a rapport, since he’s been handling this for long.
He said he generally gets the affidavit drafted & notarized by an advocate from the state that’s in the address of the client’s ID proof (not necessarily same district) and that he’s successfully delivered them. And yeah, he does charge, so yeah
He said min period would be 30 days

Documents might be ID/Address proof, Affidavit, Medical intervention letter

for instance, suppose the deadname is bee kardashian (kardashian being the surname), can the preferred name be only Rose and not Rose Kardashian? @Realneilbruce

tara______ Nothing is mandatory but legally speaking it is always beneficial to have a last name, as there may be forms to fill that absolutely require a last name (there are usually workarounds but it might not be ideal, like repeating your first name twice, etc.). I was thinking of shortening my last name to an initial but I decided against it as well due to a form I know I will need to fill in future that requires me to write it in a foreign language in which it's impossible to write an English initial "correctly".
