Why Transgender act fail to include Health Insurance Coverage

If Constitution of India and Parliment values transgender and can come up with transgender act then why did the act failed to provide a basic necessity like Health Insurance coverage.

Why did it failed to mention that all Health Insurance providers in India should offer / include change of gender or sex change as part of there offerings in health insurance plans.

I don't see any Health Insurance provider including change of gender or sex change as a part of there offerings.... instead its broadly listed as EXCLUSION.

Why do we need only Ayushman Bharat to cover sex change.

Only few corporates forces these Health Insurance companies to offer sex change or change of gender, as an option to its employees and that to the sum insured is less than 2.5 Lakhs only where as any good and experienced surgeon offers it for 4-4.5 lakhs.

I urge center to come up with directive, include and provide a basic necessity like Health Insurance coverage for transgender.

All Health Insurance companies in India should offer "Trangender Health Insurance"

THI should cover Hormone replacement (HRT), Change of Gender/ Sex change Surgery with an Insurance cap of 4 lakhs atleast, along with Facial Feminizing surgery (FFS), Voice Feminizing Surgery (VFS). etc

Inclusion should be without any bias.

It's because they'll lose money. Not very experienced with finances or insurances but saying with what I think is the case. Take generous amount of salt with it. Most medical insurances usually cover major stuff and hospitalization. Which for a normal person is not many times in life but they have to keep paying the premium so that they are covered under the policy. In case of trans individuals it is a certainty in at least 90% + cases.
My workplace offers a basic insurance along with the job as most employers do. I have however opted for a add-on package of 25k pa so that my mom and I can be covered with a decent sum. If it covered GRS and other surgeries. The amount would have been enough to cover GRS, FFS, breast argumentation, maybe even vocal feminization surgery.

So yeah definitely not profitable.

Yes, push back from powerful insurance companies.To save their skin, insurance companies roll out the tired argument that it's a cosmetic procedure which we all know isn't true. I transitioned overseas and thank my lucky stars, my insurance covered my SRS.

Nishi I completely agree with you because I feel the same but this is not the correct forum to raise this issue. GOI is the right forum to let such beneficial directives/suggestions be communicated - the forum where the power-yielders put their stamp.
