Deepa Hi Deepa, that's great news! I also met my psychiatrist recently, and have some questions. Please do help - I am not quite concerned as to my progress.
1. Can you please exlpain about the certificate? What was the 1st cert you got (in 2 sittings) and the second one also (in 1 sitting?)
2. How long was the period between your 1st meeting till your beginning hormones (ie endocrinologist meeting etc)
3. Did you have to do RLE also? How long did you do it for?

Hi Yashika (am quoting what you said on another thread here, since it concerns the topic under discussion):
" Another psychiatrist I have in mind, which is much cheaper as it is government one is NIMHANS, Bangalore - Psychiatrist department (I think you just pay a nominal registration amount). That's where I had gotten my recommendation from. But keep in mind that if you don't already have a letter in hand, it takes up to 6 months minimum to get that evaluation. In private clinics, you might get it faster. 6 months is a better option though to ensure you are not going to take an incorrect step."
I am going to NIMHANS currently. The registration is very very nominal amount, true. What letter are you referring to though? And also, is 6 months the standard amount for eval? How many sessions did you go through?

Hi Nandini, need your expert advice and input also please!
Basically, girls, I met my counselor this time. I did RLE experiences thrice, which I told him, and also did it as per his direction. I informed him of my decision to start telling people close to me, slowly (he had advised it earlier). But this time, the psychiatrist says I have to wait another 8 months and then maaaaybe I will begin hormones! "He will see", he said. I have already seen him 4-5 times over the past six months and he has understoof that my dysphoria is very real and genuine (he mentioned this clearly to me), and I have done the RLE also. He also said to not tell anyone except one person close to me.
I am shattered at the thought of waiting so long more before anything can happen! Have I done something wrong, or should I seek a second opinion and change my doctor? Will this change mean I have to start from the beginning again? I cried in front of him when he told me, I just couldn't bear it. Please help! Thank you!
