Expectations: Same! I was quite stunned at what he said, there was some smiling and a lot of "you're one of many, do as we say" kind of statements. What I listed isn't even all of it (something else he said was "you're near 30. hormones will have minimal effect, keep your expectation low."). Now I know I am 30 and not in my teens which would have been ideal, but to someone who is dreaming of her day in the sun as a full woman, to say something like this seemed ridiculous. And then he mentioned the rates of suicide amongst transwomen. I wonder if he realized horrible things like he said might be a cause! :\
I am trying to do my bit before HRT. I don't do much at all now, in terms of dressing. If I do, I try it at home. But I do think you should do the facial hair removal bit. That 5 'o' clock shadow doesnt help at all. In terms of body type, I can only imagine dressing to contour? There are youtube vids which help ?
City: Bangalore. Where are you from? ? This guy I met is supposed to be one of the best, and as I said, came recommended by someone who works with transpeople. So I am not sure what advice he's been doling out now :\ I went with such high hopes!
Employer: Not a chance in hell. The place I work is very image conscious (they need to be), and this is a surefire goodbye. I want to move to a place as my true self - so there is no ambiguity in how I will work, and who I am. That I need to find though. I dont think my experience or qualification will shine past my exterior, which is sadly the only thing people will see. Still, shall try ?
The fulltime phase: As of now, its only two instances, but I don't understand it at all! I look not very manly anyway, thankfully, and have happy moments when im referred to as madam because of my hair sometimes abd voice, but full time is a whole different thing! and in public. I asked him about it (ie HRT before going full time, and he mentioned its a pre-requisite of the SoC, before I can get HRT. This is true, but it just seemed he wanted to just be transactional and give me the info, so I leave and he can get on to his tons of patients. He said as much - I meet 100s of people everyday. So I may not remember you. How uplifting!
