if she can manage the recovery while doing the Phd, she can, but if the papers and recovery does hard on her then she can screw up PhD, and this a far thought, she knows she can handle so she has a year before she finishes PhD.
In my life, my dysphoria affected my education by which I had to drop out multiple collages, I'd suggest her to do what she think is right and should to help her dysphoria before she drops a PhD out of dipression. So with the transition she can feel comfortable about herself on the podium reciving the PhD. (Most transfolks dreams actually).
Also she could do the gender marker (F) changes to her documents before the SRS/GRS as some of us here have done it successfully.
Dear @alekhya6174 I haven't yet have gone thru with the bottom surgery because of financial reasons and also can't inform better about the doc either.
Do wait around as others will reply to your concerns who has an experience with Dr.richie, also do consider Thai docs as they are known to have more experience than the rest (not trying to downplay any Indian docs)
Make sure you have all the information (over extra research) so you can weight the right procedures and choice of docs for you.
Best of luck for your dream surgery 💖
