Need sizing help

Hi,
I am looking to buy some dresses from amazon, and according to some articles on the internet, you need to go a size up from mens to womens, for eg i wear XL in mens, so i need to get 2XL in womens, is that true? can anyone confirm, i wont be able to send the dresses back again too many times as it might arouse suspicion at home, please help

tinakapoor Sizes are weird. I used to wear M in male clothings and read the same and ordered L to start presenting on female clothing. But all of them were super big and after some more order and replacing, found out what's fit me is actually S which is lower than what I used to wear.
So maybe buy a low priced cloth on your current male cloth size and decide based on how it fits?

tinakapoor No. Not necessarily. Depends on your frame and size too. Also dress sizes are not standard all over. Sometimes 4xl fits me sometimes 3xl is similar fit. I am tall and I'm fat so my problem areas are shoulders, most female clothes ,unless, sleeveless are quite narrow and won't fit a masculine frame, Then there is garment length, especially with blouses, they are kinda short for me, masculine torso are little longer. The the sleeves or armholes, might be tight.

So take note of these.

Lily okay thanks, i dont think XL will fit me because my mom wears XL, and her clothes barely fit me, so yes i think i should try thanks

Best is to measure yourself and follow the size charts. Measure your bust, waist and hips in inches or cm and choose the size in the charts that matches with your measurements. I recently did this to buy bras from Amazon and they fit perfectly well.
